About UETCL:
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is responsible for bulk purchase of electricity from the generating companies and selling the electricity in bulk to the distribution companies throughout Uganda. UETCL is also responsible for all exports and imports of electricity to Uganda. Our Vision is: “To become a leading strategic business partner in the transmission and Single Buyer Business and to support sustainable energy development in Uganda.”
Job Overview:  
The incumbent will majorly be responsible for the coordination of planning and investment on the transmission infrastructure to secure and optimize usage of power in Uganda and the Eastern Africa region.
Job Duties:  
1. Main System Planning Design:
  • Forecast the energy and peak demand outlook for usage and make generation and transmission plans to match future system capacity to the load.
  • Make sure that system developments are effectively designed and specified to meet approved corporate plans.
2. Policies and Standards:
  • Ensure the progressive development and implementation of effective transmission policies and standards for the development of all transmission and sub-transmission activities.
3. Budget and Cost Control:
  • Produce budgets and monitor costs of Transmission activities in the Planning and Investments Department.
  • UETCL Transport and Spares
  • Ensure provision of transport and spares for UETCL fleet.
4. Environment:
  • Ensure assurance that all installations and work undertaken by UETCL is compliant with all relevant and required environmental standards.
  • Safety
  • Make sure that there is audit of safety rules/codes of practice for compliance
5. System Development:
  • Ensure that systems meet with users' approval and are consistent with UETCL policy and business strategy.
6. System Operations:
  • Guarantee an operations service that meets prescribed deadlines and standards.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The candidate should hold a Bachelor's (Honours) Degree in Electrical Engineering. Master's Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in related field shall be an added advantage.
  • At least ten (10) years of Professional Working Experience in Electrical Power System Planning of which five (5) years should have been at Middle Management Level.
  • Professional registration with relevant body.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of power plant and transmission network technology landscape.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of power plant and transmission and network operations.
  • Excellent leadership Skills.
  • Good Project Management Skills.
  • Excellent analytical Skills.
  • Good Decision making skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • A person of high integrity and is motivated, innovative and result oriented and a committed team player. 
  • Age must be between 35-50 years.

Job Duties:

  •     Quickly respond to and direct incoming/outgoing calls and mails;
  •     Liaise with Registry in regards to incoming and outgoing mails/ correspondences

  •     Proactively facilitate information sharing between various Divisions/Units/Sections
  •     Coordinate departmental functions with other offices/sections
  •     Receive and attend customers/visitors and direct them appropriately

  •     Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Management from time to time

Job Overview: 
The U.S. Mission Mailroom processes thousands of parcels of mail annually, both incoming and outgoing, and disburses to various departments and agencies in a timely and efficient manner. The jobholder performs mail clerk duties with a primary responsibility for the overall receipt, inspection, distribution, and dispatch of diplomatic pouch mail, courier service, and local mail. Mail service is provided to 6 agencies i.e. DOS, USAID, CDC, NIH, PC, DOD resident at Post. The incumbent also serves as backup receptionist/telephone operator at the Chancery.

Job Duties:
  •     Effectively and professionally, interface with customers responding to all issues, complaints, concerns and questions that arise.
  •     Check outgoing mail for authorized use, proper addresses, adequate postage, enclosures, weight limits and return address.
  •     Seals pouches, wraps, or otherwise prepares official mail for mailing.
  •     Keeps logs of incoming and outgoing correspondence and packages.
  •     Prepares the documentation and contents for the diplomatic pouches and registers outgoing mail.
  •     Assist in receipt and delivery of courier packages, monitor and order the mailroom expendable supplies.
  •     Carry out on-line pouch tracking responsibilities, data entry, filing, sorting and distribution of letter-mail.
  •     Deliver mail to employees, often using carts to carry the mail between offices. Use a computer to keep records of incoming and outgoing items and prepare mailroom logs and workload counts.
  •     Perform a broad range of messenger and delivery duties to ensure timely distribution of messages, mail, fax, printed materials and various supplies to departments and other agencies.
  •     Process all outgoing mail according to postal and internal rules and regulations. File, photocopy and perform other clerical duties to insure smooth running operation. Unload, move and store incoming supply shipments.
  •     Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  •     Guarantee continuous and efficient operation support for all members and employees.
  •     Maintain special mail services, supplies, and records.
  •     File and maintain "inactive" mail records.
  •     Support in the maintenance of photocopying and duplicating machines and provide photocopying services.
  •     Processes, cleans offset press at conclusion of runs and oils, greases and performs minor maintenance as necessary.
  •     Collates, assembles, staples or binds multi page duplicating jobs.
  •     Fills ink reservoir, filling paper magazine and making complex adjustment to produce good quality copies.

Job Requirements:
  •     The ideal candidate for the US embassy career opportunity should have completed both secondary school (both ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels)
  •     At least one year of mail handling experience is required.
  •     Detailed knowledge of Department of State mail handling instructions, organization, functions, personnel and practices of agency mission in which employed is required.
  •     Good familiarity with the ability to interpret and adhere to the FAM and Diplomatic Mail policies and procedures.
  •     Must be familiar with processing inbound and outbound shipments utilizing the Integrated Logistical Management System (ILMS) software.
