Tetra Tech ARD, headquartered in Burlington, Vermont (http:www.tetratechintdev.com/) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified Technical Director candidates (and potential Chief of Party) for its’ ongoing, 5-year, USAID-funded, market systems development project in Uganda. The project, focused on the agro-inputs industry, aims to achieve systemic change through facilitative approaches that increase the availability of genuine quality agro-inputs to consumers and decrease the prevalence of counterfeit products. Currently, the project is developing role models of businesses in the agro-inputs industry, increasing support systems services, fostering business networks across industries and creating strategic disruptions to speed up change.

Job Overview:
The Technical Director will lead a team to pilot and operationalize the project’s Systemic M&E approach—a unique opportunity for persons interested in applying systems and complexity thinking to market development. In particular, the Technical Director, will develop and scale-up mechanisms to track and characterize the types and direction of change taking place in the agro-inputs system using, for example, such tools as social network mapping and causal loop analysis. The Technical Director will also provide technical guidance to implementation staff that is based on his or her years of experience and on the findings from the project’s Systemic M&E investigations.

Job Requirements:
• Practical familiarity applying principles of systems and complexity science to market or other systems development in a developing country context;
• Leadership, mentorship and supervision of technical staff in market systems development or on projects with similar objectives; experience managing teams;
• Strategic planning;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, past publishing and presentation skills a plus.
