Job Overview:
We
are preparing for a DFID-funded project that aims to strengthen
agricultural value chains in Northern Uganda. We are seeking
expressions of interest for the position of Team Leader.
Job Requirements:
- A Degree in a relevant field (Business, Agriculture, Economics) and experience in managing complex large-scale donor funded projects.
- At least 15 years of professional experience working in the private, public or development sector, at least 10 of which focusing on market development and value-chain enhancement.
- Experience in implementing agri-business programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa;
- Experience in working with value chain and market systems approached, preferable Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P)
- Experience working with DFID, and/or other large international donors, and strong understanding of donor requirements.
- Strong team leadership, problem solving skills and management experience.
- Excellent communication skills, including strong presentation, networking and facilitation skills.
- Extensive experience delivering against defined milestones and targets.
- A good understanding of the Ugandan context particularly agricultural context in Northern Uganda.
Job Duties:
- Provide overall strategic direction to the programme and assume responsibility for meeting programme objectives.
- Provide overall programme management in Uganda overseeing all components of programme implementation.
- Act as spokesperson for the programme, and presenting its work.
- Liaise with other active donors, key stakeholders and relevant programmes within the region.
- Ensure a focus on poverty reduction remains central to the project strategy, activities, and implementation.
- Supervise the work of all long and short-term staff and subcontractors.
- Oversee key staff to ensure the monitoring and evaluation of the overall programme and timely submission of reports.
- Develop
and implement the programme strategy, business plan and budget,
while ensuring value for money and delivery of results.
