About IDF:
Independent Development Fund (IDF) is an indigenous Organization in Uganda founded in 2006 following a study that proposed the establishment of a pragmatic and autonomous grants making mechanism a number of development partners including the Embassy of Sweden/SIDA, the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, DFID, the Royal Danish Embassy/DANIDA and the Government of Ireland/ Irish Aid pooled resources to support the operationalization of the Grants Making Programme.
The IDF is a non partisan and not-for-profit grants making organization supporting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Uganda. It is set up to deliver support services to Ugandan CSOs to strengthen their capacities to effectively contribute to the country's human rights, civil rights, good governance and poverty reduction efforts. This is done through the provision of grants for various activities and grants management support to the CSOs that work to promote a Rights Based Approach, support and facilitates citizens to access and understand laws and Government policies that impact on their human and civil rights.
Job Overview:
The successful candidate will manage the financial and administrative operations of the organisation while ensuring that there is value for money.
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in financial management and professional courses like ACCA, CPA, & CMIA. Possession of a Master’s degree or equivalent postgraduate qualifications in Finance or Accounting will be an added advantage.
- Personnel & human resource management training, contracts management
- A minimum of five years’ experience in managing financial resources in a reputable organisation and preferably at Senior Management level.
- At least three years’ managing grant financing and contracts
- Computer proficiency in using SAGE accounting system
Job Duties:
- Manage the implementation of financial policies, procedures and regulations.
- Make sure that budget monitoring, cash flow projections, financial controls and operating systems are functioning and diligently enforced
- Responsible for generation of the organisation’s financial reports i.e. monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually.
- Ensure contracting and procurement procedures and regulations are based on the approved procedures in place
- Ensure efficient and user friendly administrative services are available of the Fund
- Ensure that the Fund Secretariat is up and running
- Contribute to the mobilisation of resources needed for the Fund
- Significantly contribute to the promotion and proper management of the grants system
- Contribute to the creation of awareness of the IDF as an organisation and its activities.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Executive Director.
