Job Overview:
We are currently seeking applications from well qualified and experienced individuals for the post of Finance Officer (Maternity Leave Relief) for a 3 months (May, June & July 2014) appointment, with the major responsiblity of managing, handling, recording and reporting the organization funds and assets in a professional and efficient manner and in accordance with the international financial reporting standards.

Job Requirements:

  •     Must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting/business administration/finance/economics or other relevant area of study or/and,       Must have professional qualification with a minimum of CPA K.
  •     Knowledge of major donor funding regulations is preferred.
  •     Proficiency in Microsoft office skills Ms Excel and quick books.
  •     Desired Qualities

  •     Have a personal commitment to work as a reliable, honest and trustworthy team.
  •     Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative team approach.
  •     Good judgment, tact, analytical and negotiation skills.
  •     Have customer relations skills and to deal patiently with all categories of staff.
  •     Good time management skills and is able to deliver with minimal supervision.

Job Duties:
  •     Take Charge of the day to day efficient running of the finance.
  •     Reviewing of documents and transactions in the organization to ascertain compliance, accuracy, relevance and reasonableness of the transactions. These include monthly operating reports, financial statements, gain/loss analysis, depreciation report, audit reports, inventory and capital purchases.
  •     Planning, forecasting and budgeting – Budgetary controls – Monitoring monthly expenses in accordance with authorized budget levels and review of travel reports to ensure.
  •     Facilitate the quarterly review by the appointed Auditors (especially for April, May, June and July 2014)
  •     Transparency and efficiency of the organizations financial operations and to ensure
  •     Compliance with the various donor reporting guidelines. Also maintaining the integrity of confidential financial records.
  •     Supervise the financial and accounting staff to ensure deadlines are met.
  •     Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems, processes and financial performance.
  •     Review accounting, account analysis and reconciliation (banks, cash).
  •     Financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  •     Ensuring timely completion of donor reports and management reports.
  •     Ensure statutory payments are completed on time.
  •     Communicates professionally with all internal and external customers.
  •     Review and post various General ledger journal entries.
  •     In charge of all payrolls-delegated authority.
  •     Submit various monthly Management financial reports on the 10th of the following month to the Executive Director and the board as well as the donors when requested.
