FHI 360 serves more than 60 countries, all 50 U.S. states and all U.S. territories.   FHI 360 is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Technical Advisor, OVC in Dar es Salaam.

Additional Responsibilities:
This individual will provide technical guidance on MVC programs of FHI 360 Tanzania in partnership with OVC technical team for the USAID-funded, 5-year, multi-million dollar HSS project in Tanzania. Availability of position is contingent upon funder approval.

Accountabilities:    
  • Provide support to strengthen OVC programs implemented by the Department of Social Welfare (DSW) and selected development partners with technical assistance from FHI 360.
  •     Operationalize effectively the implementation of the National Plan of Action and share lessons learnt with government and other OVC stakeholders.
  •     Provide technical support and coordinate the development of relevant tools; share tools with other stakeholders and the DSW to strengthen community systems.
  •     Develop training materials, capacity building for OVC staff and data management system.
  •     Provide technical assistance to implementing civil society organizations.
  •     Provide technical guidance and coordinate the integration of OVC support into other care and support programs, especially counseling and testing, home based palliative care, pediatric care.
  •      Provide technical assistance in documenting and scaling up best practices.
  •     Assist civil society organizations to support MVCC establishment and strengthening and contribute to the DMS in line with national standards.
  •     Supervise all Regional Technical Officers.
  •     Guide the technical team to ensure provision of high quality plans, supportive supervision and quality reports

Job Requirements:
  •     MS/MA in Social science with 5-7 years’ experience or BS/BA in Social science with 9-11 years’ experience.
  •     At least 5 years’ experience in OVC programs in planning report writing and presenting lessons findings to public health and policy specialists, the media and the general public.
  •     Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, and technical skills in programming for orphans and vulnerable children with a focus on improving children’s health, nutrition, education, protection, psychosocial well-being, and care as well as addressing household economic and food security;
  •     Demonstrated experience in OVC programme quality improvement working in partnership with CSOs and Government entities at all levels;
  •     Demonstrated experience in the design and use of training curricula;
  •     Knowledgeable about adult learning methodologies and principles;
  •     Demonstrated experience in cultivating and sustaining working relationships with local partners and the government of Tanzania;
  •     Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;
  •     Tanzanian national preferred.
  •     Proficient in English required
  •     Proficient in Kiswahili preferred
