About Us:
The Eastern Archdiocesan Development Network (EADEN) is the network of Caritas organizations of the Catholic Church in the Province of Tororo. It covers the Dioceses of Jinja, Tororo, Soroti, Kotido and Moroto. It was established to coordinate development initiatives in the Province and link network members and partners locally, nationally and internationally.

Job Overview:
The Policy Research & Advocacy Coordinator will mainly coordinate evidence-based research, policy analysis and advocacy function to influence positive policy change in smallholder agricultural development, complex and multiple land tenure systems, environmental laws, climate change risks mitigation and adaptation measures, financing of the agricultural sector, quantity and terms of agricultural credit, agricultural extension services, agricultural marketing infrastructures and value chain development as well as issues of governance, poverty, rights and justice in society.

Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or Agriculture
  • At least three years’ working experience in research, policy analysis and advocacy
  • Two years’ management experience
  • Three or more years’ experience in managing donor funded projects
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Possess the ability to work in a multi-cultural society/community
  • Good attitude towards community work .
  • Concern for standards alongside problem solving, Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Strategic thinking. Results orientation. Concern for impact
  • Relationship building, planning & organisation. Management/administrative, Interpersonal skills
  • Possess the ability to relate policy and practice
  • Past experience in fundraising and donor reporting will be an added advantage
  • Training and experience in project planning and management
  • Experience in research and advocacy in livelihood
  • Past training and experience in Rights Based Programming will be an added advantage

Job Duties:
  •     Set the strategic policy research agenda in line with the strategic plan priorities
  •     Develop EADEN Advocacy strategy and coordinate its implementation
  •     Work out and interpret policy papers, research including dissemination of key findings/ implications to relevant stakeholders
  •     Take lead of the generation of evidence-based policy impact data
  •     Develop and disseminate policy positions
  •     Coordinate / participate in strategic alliances over policy issues
  •     Build staff professional capacity to engage in policy analysis and advocacy at all levels.
  •     Mainstream and integrate Policy and Advocacy in all Programme activities.
  •     Form strategic alliances with civil society organizations and development partners in the organization's operational area to influence policy change.
  •     Develop and strengthen collaboration with government at the local level to put forward advocacy issues for redress.
